Here’s Jared. He’s currently staying with his dear uncle Bernard. Jared is difficult to catch for a photo shoot, as his days are full of various activities. I managed to take a picture from above while he was on his way to yoga class.
I already showed you a sturdy rope basket I crocheted. This time I was going to use the rest of that rope to make another container. I started with crochet to make the solid bottom of my future basket, working in spirals with single crochet stitches. Then I picked up loops for the knitted part. […]
Bernard has ventured into the world of start-ups. He thinks so, anyhow. I told him that hatching an egg in some sort of an incubator and trying to sell the chicken wouldn’t make it a business incubator (e.g. like those). He wouldn’t listen to me. I think I will have to keep him away from […]
I was crocheting a chicken, and it occurred to me that the best way to make two symmetrical wings was to create each one with a different hand. Did I tell you that I enjoy coming up with ideas and, especially, reinventing the wheel? I tried to crochet with my left hand (which is non-dominant). […]
Another pattern I managed to follow is a chart: a lovely doily from ravelry. I used to freehand crochet only, so it’s kind of an achievement. Apparently I have a thing for doilies.
At last! I followed a crochet pattern. I couldn’t do it before: all those rows of “sc, dc, ch, lp, sp” bored me too much. Somehow it was much easier to improvise. So I gathered enough will power to get past the boredom of patterns. This vintage doily is the result. I knew it was […]
Bernard is back from his vacation. He used lots of sunscreen, so there’s very little sun tanning. The first thing he asked about was my blog. Oh no, I thought. My blog is, you know, somewhat abandoned. But see, Bernard, I have a new yarn and can make a great scarf for you. How lucky. […]
Bernard signed up for Coursera. Now I have to prepare everything for his studies, print out articles etc. He keeps me busy! Oh I wish he concentrated on some other hobby (not requiring me to be his assistant). Wise cat. Too wise. By the way, have you noticed Bernard’s new scarf? It’s silk.
Bernard was nudging me for the whole weekend, but I couldn’t finish his “casual” scarf. So he decided to take everything into his own hands (can’t tell you what he muttered while doing this). After a steep learning curve he mastered the basics of knitting.
Meet Bernard. He is a wise cat who loves scarves and wears them in style. His youth was full of adventures, hence the colour. Bernard is proudly pear-shaped. He thinks this shape subtly conveys the intellectual nature of his pastime. To tell you the truth, Bernard said these photos of him were done poorly. Actually […]
